During Baselworld 2017 – The Eagerly Awaited Seiko 62Mas Reedition SLA017 Prospex was released.
But not only its expensive at Euro3800 but it is also a limited production quantity. Therefore its probably out of reach for many Seiko enthusiast.
………for some reason Seiko also makes the SPB051 and SPB053………which is term as the modern 62MAS and also cheaper too !
Its dial design being alike to the 62MAS <which is good> but the hands (Monster style) is not a favourite to many.
*i will not touch on the specification and review of these watches as there is plenty available on the net.
What it lack is a quality 3 facet hands set to replace the SBP051 and SBP053 and update them to what i believed ; as a better interpretation of the Modern 62MAS.
I have decided to invest on the tooling and fixture to manufacture these 62MAS 3 Facet laser cut (C3 Swiss lume) hands.
After months of planning, drawing, and money ! Available now is the New 62MAS 3 Facet hands for Seiko SPB051 and SPB053 (aka modern 62MAS).

Hi, the hands has just been launched.
Unfortunately i myself has not managed to secure the 051/053 yet.
A few of the guys with 051/053 has placed order and despatchment next week.
I am eagerly awaiting their feedback too.

Seiko uses their own proprietary Lumibrite on its markers.
The colour is pretty close (when not lume).
When lume, it 62MAS hands is slighter greener. But it gives a good contrast between the marker and hands.
Nice post, thank you! I have a question regarding the movement ring material of the SPB051 and SPB05 I can not see it in the picture that you posted. Is the movement ring made of plastic or metal?

The SPB051 / 53 uses the 6R15 movement.
Similar to the 7Sxx and NH35/36, they uses the plastic movement spacer.

will you be so kind, please, and tell me the proper “height” of the second hand for the NH36 (4R36) movement? By the “height” I mean the length of the “tube” which holds the hand on the shaft. Cousins UK offer second hands with the height 0.7, 1.0, 1.3, 1.5 and 1.8 milimeters,

Hi there, I’m interested in your good looking hands for my SPB053 but can’t figure out why there are so different versions of the hands. Especially the second’s hand is longer or shorter on the different examples. I really prefer the SLA017 look so that de seconds hand is longer and the dot is right above the indexes. Is this what I get when I purchase? Thank you in advance. Regards VT
There is 2 version of the 62Mas hands. The longer ones is the V2.

Got these installed. Sorry for the delayed review.
They look great, same as pictured in this blog. My only small criticism is that the lume is definitely not as bright or green as the seiko ones.
Still very pleased with the purchase and won’t hesitate recommending this to anyone else.
